Making an underground system visible.
Hovensa commissioned a large-scale 3D model of its St. Croix refinery and a series of tutorial animations. This sequence focused on construction below grade, beyond the reach of ordinary site photography.
I modeled the facility and underground components in 3DS Max, rendered them with V-Ray, and composed the sequence in After Effects. By separating the layers and connections, the animation showed the foundation, seal box, Y-connector, piping, and materials as one system.
