A mechanical animation reconstructing the failure of an older Formax-26 tank.
Case study
Reconstructing a failure too dangerous to film.
The assignment required a clear view of an older Formax-26 tank failing under the described conditions. Because reproducing the event would have been unsafe, I built the mechanism and failure sequence from scratch.
I modeled the equipment in Rhino3D and 3DS Max, animated the failure, rendered it with V-Ray, and finished the sequence in After Effects. The animation presented the proposed chain of events from consistent viewpoints and at controlled timing.
